Visiting Michael Cook's Tavern in Upper Canada Village began to bring my information to life. Mihael Carman's Museum in Iroquois, Ontario was also another excellent example of early development. The stone masonry work brought my thoughts back to my great grandfather, James Albert Cook. I also drove Hwy 2 along the St Lawrence River from Montreal to Brockville, Ontario. This enabled me to envision the raw land and the amount of work done by those early settlers. The beauty of the land and the small towns that grew.
