Sanchez Gonzalez is the author of Boricua Literature: A Literary History of the Puerto Rican Diaspora (NYU Press, 2001) and The Stories I Read to the Children: The Life and Writing of Pura Belpre (Centro Press, 2013). A Professor of English at the University of Connecticut, Sanchez currently teaches courses in American, Caribbean, and western literary history.
