McCullough is Professor of Medicine and Medical Ethics and Associate Director for Education in the Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He has published ten books and more than 375 sholarly articles and book chapters on the history of medical ethics, the ethics of the major medical specialties, research ethics, and the philosophy of Leibniz.
