Kyle VernonKyle Vernon is a Texas educator, author, editor, and lifelong storyteller whose work reflects a deep affection for history, science, the natural world, and the wide-open landscapes of West Texas. He has spent more than three decades teaching science nd astronomy, helping generations of students understand not only how the universe works, but why curiosity, discipline, and careful observation matter.His teaching career has included work with high school students, military personnel, and international communities. From 1995 to 1999, he taught members of the United States Armed Forces, including soldiers, sailors, and airmen, and spent six months deployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He later lived and taught in the United Kingdom from 2000 to 2002. These experiences broadened his perspective and strengthened his interest in the ways history, place, and memory shape people's lives.Kyle's writing spans several genres. His novel A Davis Mountains Ghost Story blends historical fiction, supernatural suspense, and the rugged beauty of the Texas mountains. The story grew from an idea he carried for decades and combines his interests in frontier history, firearms history, folklore, education, and atmospheric storytelling. He is also the creator of children's books, including the Digby the Church Mouse series and titles in the Young Texan Readers Series, which introduce younger readers to imaginative adventures, Texas wildlife, humor, and rhyme.In addition to writing original works, Kyle has edited and republished the memoirs of Sir James Bisset, including Sail Ho!, Tramps and Ladies, and Commodore. These projects reflect his appreciation for maritime history, personal memoir, and preserving older works for new generations of readers.Much of Kyle's creative outlook was shaped by his experiences in Scouting and by the campfire stories he heard growing up.
