The descriptions of the 1889 Land Run claims in this book, are actual features of their land - the creeks, sprigs, draws, pastures, fields, hills, dugouts, and homesites. The 'ranch' described in the Cherokee Outlet, is actually a description of another place of theirs four miles further west on Highway 51. There was a rose bush, with small pink roses, on the old homesite near Dane's big spring when they first bought that place.
