Ken AdelmanKen Adelman was President Ronald Reagan's arms control director, accompanying the president on three superpower summits-most notably, the history-bending meeting in Reykjavik, Iceland in October of 1986. President Reagan first appointed him as a US. mbassador to the United Nations. Before then, he had served as Assistant to the Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld.With a doctorate in political theory from Georgetown University, Adelman has taught national security studies at Johns Hopkins University, Georgetown, and George Washington University, and taught Shakespeare at Georgetown and George Washington universities. He and his wife Carol lived in Zaire, Africa from 1972 to 1975, where Ken translated for Mohammed Ali when he was in Kinshasa for the "Rumble in the Jungle" heavyweight bout of September 1974. Ken also went on an extensive raft trip with the British army down the Congo River on the 100th anniversary of Stanley's trip. He and Carol have two daughters and five grandchildren. In 1997 they founded Movers & Shakespeares, a firm teaching modern executive leadership through the ancient wisdom of William Shakespeare. They live in Arlington, VA, and Aspen, CO.
