Joyce Osborn WilsonJoyce Osborn Wilson is a person of many talents, which include CEO, Inventor and Author. She owned her own beauty salon for 26 years, invented and has a patent for a teeth whitening system sold globally and formulated her own line of skin care producs. Her expertise in cooking came from sharing the kitchen with her mother in the Appalachian Mountains of Harlan County, Kentucky. Born in 1941, she was a war baby. Her life formed on Sukie Ridge, in Harlan County, Kentucky. She stressed bargaining with her mother to take her place in the kitchen in exchange for her mother taking her place in the gardens. They were both happy campers. "I knew I had to cook well to replace my mother and I also had to keep the house clean. Mother loved the outdoors as much as I did, but I loved that little kitchen high on the side of the mountain. We had so little, but we were rich in love. We ate off the land, raising our own vegetables and hogs. We never had indoor plumbing, but we had a well on the back porch, easy and accessible from the kitchen. Nothing like a good cold drink of cold spring well water. Mother used cold water from the well to make her buttermilk biscuits and lard from the hogs every morning. I can still close my eyes and smell that smell." Ms Wilson holds 39 certifications in the aesthetic industry. She also served her community, being a charter member of Leadership Walker County, being honored with Business and Professional Woman of the Year twice in her career and serving on boards too numerous to mention. Joyce has appeared on the John Stossel Show and has been featured in the front section of the New York Times for her teeth whitening business. She continues her work and product development with her daughter Kimberly Verge with the IGNITE Teeth Whitening, her newest consumer product for home whitening. Ms Wilson has written and published five books; In The Sweet By and By, A Twisted Mind, Footprints of My Life, A Diary of Love and Take a Walk Through Life with LED Light. Appalachian Cooking and More is her most recent work and is about the recipes that were taught that were handed down through her family through with a little pinch of this and a little pinch of that. Her husband, Ken, enjoys helping with gathering the fresh vegetables and making homemade sauerkraut. They work as a team shucking corn and shelling peas.
