Joyce Bowden OamJoyce Bowden arrived to live permanently in Alice Springs in 1964, newly married and freshly graduated as a registered nurse and midwife. She now has a 50-year history of leadership and innovation in planning, establishing and managing both public setor and not-for-profit health and community services in the Northern Territory, especially in Central Australia. In the absence of services to support her son and others like him, Joyce became a Board member of Bindi Inc. in 1980 and was the chairperson when it merged with Lifestyle Solutions in 2012. She maintains a particular interest in ensuring that people with intellectual disability, cognitive impairment or mental health issues are empowered and supported to enjoy a valued role in the community and lead fulfilled lives.
