In 1914, he was the first person in the world to write about theKnowledge and Teachings of Impersonal Life, which is also called the "I AM" Teaching. John W. Benner, his father, ran a business. Benner went to public schools and worked at J.F. Seiberling & Co., People's Savings Bank Company, Central Savings Bank Company, and Akron Trust Company. He ran the Akron Printing Company as its main owner.
