He got his Bachelor's, and Master's degrees in biology at the Universidad del Valle in Colombia. He did his Ph.D. at Dalhousie University in Canada. H is a data scientist and bioinformatician with more than 8 years of research experience in bioinformatics, structural biology, molecular biology, evolutionary biology, and macroecology.
