JOHN WHITEJohn White was raised in Mount Barker, Western Australia, in a hard-working family, and attended the local state school. Although he achieved tolerably well, his interest was more in 'doing' than in academic pursuits. He excelled at athletics, music nd practical arts, and left school at age 16 to work on the small family farm for several years. A downturn in the wool industry forced him to seek other employment and he found work in the local radio station, 6VA Albany, becoming the breakfast announcer within a few months. During that time he also began singing as a guest artist in pubs and night clubs, and attained Private Pilot License for fixed- wing aircraft. Wanting to bring the radio station into the twentieth century, after about a year he introduced some 'personality' into his show. As management hadn't authorised the changes, he was summarily dismissed! Returning to tertiary studies, he trained at what is now Edith Cowan University, became a secondary teacher, and taught for 12 years. Coming into contact with troubled youngsters led John to study psychotherapy, counselling, and clinical supervision, and he worked in that field for more than thirty years. John is married to Jennifer, his first and only wife, and they have two adult children - Emma and Benjamin. Emma and her husband Alan have three sons, Hamish, Nathan and Ian. John and Jennifer live in the small country town of Toodyay, about an hour east of Perth, Western Australia. Read More Read Less
