When John passed away, he left an extensive collection of works across an array of subject matter including architecture, landscapes, pastoral scenes, and portraits of people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. In addition to his love of art, John studied and cared deeply about many subjects, including U.S. history, genealogy, politics, and education.
