John R R Stanczak

John R R StanczakJohn Stanczak is a late blooming author who hails from the American heartland. Born in 1930 and raised in North Chicago, Illinois, an ethnic melting pot about an hour north of Chicago, John has lived a full and interesting life, providing plenty of fdder for his storytelling. John served in the Army during the Korean conflict. While John never saw combat, he was badly injured while playing on his post's baseball team and spent months in the hospital and rehabbing. After leaving the Army, John married and raised four children in Waukegan, Illinois, the birthplace of the famous author, Ray Bradbury, who used Waukegan - called Green Town, Illinois in his writings - as the setting for several of his short stories. John, together with his younger brother Jim, co-owned a bowling alley in Waukegan in the '70's, and then moved south of the Mason-Dixon line, where he owned and operated several fast-food restaurants, a golf supply store, a children's play center, and a custom blinds business. Having finally worked all of that entrepreneurial spirit out of his system, John retired at the age of 81 to Brentwood, Tennessee, just outside of Nashville, where the writing bug bit him . . . and he's been writing ever since. While John has not yet reached the heights - or the output - of Ray Bradbury, he has authored four books since turning 90 and is currently working on his fifth. John's first book published in 2021 was truly a labor of love: The Story of the Stanczak Brothers Baseball Team: Baseball's All Brothers World Champions. The book, originally to be co-written with his brother Jim who died shortly before the writing began, told the story of the most successful all-brothers baseball team in American history; a team comprised of John's father and nine of his uncles. He followed that in 2022 with the publication of Musings... An Old Man's Recollections of Life's Events, a semi-autobiographical story about coming of age in the late 1940's and early 1950's. Not content to write just about the past, John branched out into children's books with the 2023 publication of the illustrated book, The Adventures of Buzzy the Bee & His Friends, which was illustrated by one of John's daughters. John tried his hand at pure fiction that same year, publishing America, of Thee I Sing, a novel of historical fiction set in rural Mississippi during the Great Depression. John's writings are infused with his love of country, his commitment to inspire his readers, and his desire to raise the standard of discourse in our society.
