Joel MitchellJOEL AND NAOMI MITCHELL are the founders of The Family and Marriage Institute of Chicago," a not-for profit organization that provides pastoral care and consulting to individuals and families, and The Marriage Investors, LLC, where they provide marrige consulting and coaching services. Together, they have extensive experience in ministry, social services, and consulting. They are ministers who love God and consider God an integral part of their marriage and their lives. JOEL is an ordained and licensed minister who has worked in the field of social services for over 20 years. He is currently a Deputy Commissioner with the City of Chicago, and he oversees the day-to-day operations of the Human Services Division. Joel earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Communication and Human Relations from Western Illinois University, and a Master of Divinity and Master of Theological Studies from McCormick Theological Seminary. He is presently pursuing his Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Care and Counseling at Chicago Theological Seminary. NAOMI is a licensed minister with a heart for wholeness, wellness, and well-being. In addition to a broad range of counseling expertise, she has extensive experience in the areas of bereavement, marriage, eating disorders, self-esteem, social adjustment, job loss, depression, and anxiety. Naomi earned a Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition from Southern Illinois University, as well as a Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary. She is currently a 2019 candidate for the Doctor of Ministry from the Association of Chicago Theological Schools, and is also a graduate of the Center for Religion and Psychotherapy, and is preparing to sit for the Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor's exam. Naomi is a Certified Prepare and Enrich Marriage Counselor and an approved Gottman Institute Couple's Check-up Advisor. JOEL AND NAOMI have been married for fifteen years, and as a result, they have developed a heart and passion for working with married couples and families. Their mission is to restore wholeness by healing brokenness. They are committed to reconciling relationships, deepening love, and strengthening families.
