Jo Freeman Jo Freeman is a lawyer, activist, and historian who publishes frequently on feminism and the history of social protest movements. After graduating from Berkeley, she travelled south to participate in the Second Freedom Summer of 1965. She hods a PhD from the University of Chicago and a JD from New York University and is a fellow of the Brookings Institute and a Congressional Fellow of the American Political Science Association.
