He received a degree in chemsity from Assumption University of Windsor, and later in theology from the University of Western Ontario, and a PhD from Union Institute and Graduate School. Deeply moved by the impac of the second Vatican Council, the civil rights movement, and the Vietnam War, Jim moved from pastoral work to the streets.
