Jey Withane
Jey Withane, who loves potatoes, wrote this novel at the age of 23 during a three-month stay in Montréal. Originally intended to be a fun, episodic story about a collection of strange characters, How to Grow Feelings like Flowers slowly trned into a diary of depression. Jey Withane, who loves working out to Elton John, noticed that the improvement of their mental health, the slow crawl out of this seemingly infinite numbness, meant that amongst all the returning joy and love, they would also have to face all the bad stuff. Without realising it, this process was documented through Antoni Pokorny's eyes.
Five years later, How to Grow Feelings like Flowers was read and edited for the first time, mostly for grammar. After that, HtGFlF was read to many friends, re-edited just as often. However, it is only now, 8 years later, that HtGFlF was finally, perhaps, understood. The fruits of this last round of editing are in your hands now. Therefore, Jey Withane, who has two cats, asks you humbly to be kind. And, if you so wish to be, helpful. There are people in this world born into connections, there are those wealthy enough to buy such connections, and there are those who, with a smile, extend their hand like a question.
