Lewis is also the loving grandfather of a young girl named Courtney, who has a very imaginative mind. Years ago, his aunt and uncle had a waterfront property in Florida frequented by a Great Blue Heron he and his cousins named Aaron. Lewis told Courtney about the bird, and together they developed a story about what might happen if she brought Aaron to school. The story was illustrated by Larry Ruppert.
