He has served the public all his adult life as a teacher, coach, principal and supervisor. He was elected president of the parish goernment for twenty-four consecutive years, serving as president for the last seventeen. James counseled and taught Bible studies to state and parish prisoners for thirty years. After retirement, James began writing novels and has published seven novels and one children's book.
