Jacques RiviereJacques Riviere (1886-1925) was a long time editor at NRF (Nouvelle Revue Francaise)-- from 1912-1914; and after the war was ended, from 1919-1925. He wrote steadily during this period, many of his essays appearing in this volume. He caught typhoid fver and died in February 1925.
