Imani S SteeleDr. Imani S. Steele is a brand strategist and researcher dedicated to understanding the architecture of relationships. Whether working with businesses to build authentic connections with their audiences or researching the complex dynamics between Blak mothers and daughters, she applies the same strategic curiosity and cultural attunement. With a background in brand and marketing strategy across the food and beverage industry, Dr. Steele built her career studying how people form meaning, attachment, and trust with the brands in their lives. She now applies that same curiosity and rigor to understanding the relational dynamics between Black mothers and daughters. Dr. Steele's research centers the lived experiences of Black daughters in strained maternal relationships, challenging deficit narratives and centering culturally informed approaches to prevention, intervention, and healing. Her work is both scholarly and personal. She is a researcher of strained maternal relationships and a Black daughter who has navigated this terrain herself.Dr. Steele continues to apply her brand and marketing strategy expertise across industries. Through Steele Compass, she bridges together all of this work: research that centers Black daughters in strained maternal relationships, brand and marketing strategy that helps organizations grow sustainably by building authentic connections, and storytelling that bridges scholarship and lived experience.
