Hideyuki SobueA Japanese artist based in the Lake District, UK. A graduate of Osaka University of Arts and raised as an orphan in Aichi, Japan, Sobue cultivates a distinctive practice in painting and drawing. His original line hatching method―rooted in Florentine enaissance Disegno, Eastern artistic traditions, and neurological insight―forms a nuanced visual language. Through this synthesis, Sobue explores the complexities of human experience, striving to bridge Eastern and Western sensibilities. To date, Sobue has received four grants from Arts Council England and has collaborated with various organisations, including the National Trust, the John Ruskin Foundation, Lancaster University, the Wordsworth Trust, Itami City Art Museum Kakimori Bunko, the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation, and Rydal Mount, to realise his art projects. Sobue's works are currently held in public and private collections in Japan, China, Britain, the Netherlands, Australia, Canada, and the USA.
