Hermann PeiterHermann Peiter is a noted Schleiermacher interpreter and editor. Though he now lives in retirement, for three decades Peiter was at once a professor of theology at the University of Kiel in Germany, a pastor, and a secondary-school teacher in religio. Between 1980 and 2006 he published four major books related to his research on Schleiermacher's thought concerning Christian faith and ethics. Terrence N. Tice, editor, is Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at the University of Michigan. He has supplied all the English material here-nearly half this volume. Professor Tice has issued over thirty books, including many of Schleiermacher's works. He has also written Schleiermacher, a summation of his theology; and he has coedited a volume on Schleiermacher's exegetical work, 1 Timothy (Pickwick Publications).
