Henry Mackay WalkerSince 1974, Henry M. Walker has taught mathematics and computer science at Grinnell College, Grinnell, Iowa, where he is now Samuel R. and Marie-Louise Rosenthal Professor of Natural Science and Mathematics and Professor of Mathematics and Computer Sience. He received his Ph.D. in mathematics in 1974 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his M.S. in Computer Science in 1979 from the University of Iowa after receiving his A.B. Magna cum Laude with Highest Honors in Mathematics from Williams College in 1969. He has been active in educational issues throughout his career, particularly in computing-related areas. He currently serves as Chair of the Special Interest Group on Computer Science Education (SIGCSE) of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), as Secretary of ACM's SIG Governing Board, and a member of the Committee on the Profession of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). He regularly consults with colleges regarding curricular and pedagogy matters, and has been part of 17 external review teams of computer science departments or mathematics and computer science departments.
