Henry C JohnsonHenry C. Johnson was born and grew up in the middle South. He served four years in the USAF, qualifying for the G.I. Bill and earning B.A. and M.A. degrees in English. After college, he embarked upon a four-decade career in federal govern- ment and hgher education, retiring from the Library of Congress in late 2000. He and his wife Gwen have been married for more than sixty years and have five grown children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
