Harold J. Spaeth

Harold J. Spaeth is Distinguished University Professor Emeritus at Michigan State University, and Research Professor at the University’s College of Law and in the Institute for Public Policy and Social Research. He is the recipien of a lifetime achievement award from the Law and Courts section of the American Political Science Association. He is the author or coauthor of The Supreme Court and the Attitudinal Model Revisited (2002), with Jeffrey A. Segal, the original edition of which won the Wadsworth Award; Majority Rule or Minority Will (1999), also with Jeffrey A. Segal, which won the C. Herman Pritchett Award; Stare Indecisis: Alteration of Precedent on the Supreme Court (1995), with Saul Brenner; Supreme Court Policy Making: Explanation and Prediction (1979); and Supreme Court Decision Making (1976), with David Rohde. He is also the creator and compiler of a series of National Science Foundation–supported U.S. Supreme Court databases.
