Guy GibsonGuy Gibson was born in 1918 and joined the RAF in 1936. By 1940 he was flying with Bomber Command and in the same year was awarded his first DFC. In 1941 he gained a Bar to that decoration and by 1943 had been awarded the DSO and Bar. For his gallanty and inspiring leadership on the Dambusters raid, he was awarded the VC. He insisted upon returning to an operational bomber squadron and was show down whilst flying as Master Bomber in a Mosquito of the Pathfinder Force. Read More Read Less
