His short fiction has appeared in The New Yorker, The New England Review, Kenyo Review, The Southern Review, Shenandoah, Fiction, Zyzzyva, Santa Monica Review, and many other journals. He is the recipient of grants and fellowships from the NEA and Washington State Artist Trust, as well as a Washington State Book Award. His fourth book of short fiction, Brake For Miracles, will be published in 2027 by Cornerstone Press, as well as a short memoir, Whale Vision (Lynx House Press).
