Scott was born in Stuart, Florida, and graduated from Martin County High School. He attended Guilford College in Greensboo, North Carolina, and graduated from Appalachian State University with a cum laude degree in Communications, and concentrations in Theater and Broadcasting. Scott has written a full-length science fiction screenplay, a childhood memoir, and a 140,000-word historical novel set in Charleston, South Carolina, during the American Civil War.
