George S J AndersonGeorge S. J. Anderson was the husband of the late Lois A. Anderson. She was an eighteen-year breast cancer survivor and advocate. His career spanned forty-two years as a registered nurse, retiring in late 2016. His many experiences with oncology patints during his career and the eighteen years of caregiving for his late wife, presents a unique perspective for this book. He facilitated a support group for husbands/significant others of women afflicted by breast cancer for many years before his wife's passing in 2011. He was awarded the Nurse of the Year in 2000 for Greater Baltimore Medical Center and went on to receive the Outstanding Clinical Nurse award for District 2 of the Maryland Nurses Association that same year. His first award for poetry came in 1974 with a poem entitled The Cage. Since then, he has published the poems The Hour of the Child, The Fly, Night Visions, Leaves, Old Friends, January, and Illusions in multiple poetry collections. He published the poem Journeys with the Watermark Press in 2000. In 1994, he self-published the short story Remember This. Twelve Roses was published in 1997 in a collection of short stories called Silver Linings, The Other Side of Cancer. He published in Chicken Soup for the Volunteer Soul in 2003. Seasons In Cancer received the Audie Award in 2001. He does all the artwork for his writings and has been drawing in pencil, charcoal, and pastels since 1982. Read More Read Less
