Thomas is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Astrophysical and Planetary Science and Senior Research Associate at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics at the University of Colorado Boulder. His research interests are in th remote sensing of Earth and planetary atmospheres. He has published over 150 papers in various fields of planetary and atmospheric science.
