She has 32 years of experience in Lakshm College of Education as Lecturer, Professor, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Gandhigram Rural University till October 2004. During her tenure she has introduced an innovative course in Teacher Education. Her contributions to the field of Child Development and Education brought many laurels to her. To mention a few, Alumni Achievement Award from M.S. University, Baroda, Best Principal Award from Government of Tamil Nadu, Fulbright Fellowship of US.
