Both Never Subdued and Never Subdued II were recipients of e-Lit awards, Bronze and a Silver medals respectively, in 2011 and 2016. His most recent awards include another Silver Medal (2018) for Yankee Gone Home, a compelling true story of the US invasion of Panama in 1989. Yankee Gone Home was also one of the books-of-the-month in July 2017 by Kirkus Reviews. A retired physician radiologist, Dr. Hook is the recipient of five separate e-Lit awards including a book trailer and website. He is a graduate of Stanford University and the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Jefferson University, Philadelphia, and served as an associate professor of radiology at the University of North Dakota.
