Francisco Cabello Dr. Francisco L. Cabello is a native of Seville, Spain where he attended the University of Seville. He holds a B.A. in Modern Philology from the University of Seville, a Master's degree in English from Claremont Graduate University, and was awarded hs Ph.D. in Spanish from the University of California at Davis. In his long teaching career, he has taught both Spanish and English. His elementary and secondary language teaching experience includes Foothill Country Day School (Claremont, California), Sacramento Country Day School (Sacramento, California), Colegio Publico San Jose (La Puebla de Cazalla, Seville, Spain), and Canadian Language Institute, which has three centers in the Seville area in Spain. He has taught at the following American colleges and universities: Pomona College (Claremont, California), University of California at Davis, Austin College (Sherman, Texas), Humboldt State University (Arcata, California), and Southern Oregon University (Ashland, Oregon), where he taught Spanish language, linguistics, translation, and methodology courses. Currently Dr. Cabello is Professor of Spanish and Hispanic Studies at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota which offers strong programs in many languages. The internationally renowned Concordia Language Villages is one of them. Dr. Cabello is the author of the popular book Total Physical Response in the First Year with versions in Spanish, English and French. He has written the Spanish translations for all of James J. Asher's TPR Student Kits. He also co-authored the student workbook Escuche y Actue (Listen and Perform in Spanish) with Stephen Mark Silvers. In 2001, in conjunction with the European Year of Languages he recorded a "Video-Introduction to Total Physical Response" that was published in the CD-ROM Lingua Snacks (Teaching Language Taster Courses with Total Physical Response), and in 2002 published the article "The ABC's of Total Physical Response, Known Worldwide as TPR." Dr. Cabello was a featured speaker at the TPR international workshop "Motivating Children and Adults to Acquire Another Language," as it was presented in Los Gatos, California, in 1989, and at the University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada in 1991. Dr. Cabello has been using TPRS with great success in his own classes for many years. He wrote "A Simplified Guide to Storytelling for Students of All Ages," a printed article published by Sky Oaks Productions, Los Gatos, CA in 2007, and has participated in two TPRS workshops in Minneapolis. The last one in 2008 and led by its originator Blaine Ray. In the summer of 2009 he taught an Introduction to TPRS course for graduate students at the Southern Oregon University's Summer Language Institute for Spanish Teachers held at the Escuela de Idiomas of the University of Guanajuato (Mexico). Since 2012 Dr. Cabello has been involved in educational theater in Spain and is the founder and artistic director of the Compania Andalucia Teatro company with headquarters in Arcos de la Frontera (Cadiz, Spain).
