Francha BarnardFrancha Barnard was a full-time resident of Baileys Harbor, WI for 17 years following her retirement in 2005 as an elementary school librarian. She said of herself, "I play at art, and work at poetry". Francha submitted her poetry on a regular basis,and her poems appeared in local publications with "Weavers" winning the 1st place award in the Peninsula Pulse's Hal Grutzmacher's Writers' Expose poetry contest in 2010. Many other poems were selected for the Wisconsin Poets' Calendar, including her ode to Frogtown Road, "A Beep and a Wave." Her artistic endeavors ranged from fiber arts, such as weaving, to collage and jewelry making. Door County was her true love. Francha was a daughter, sister, good neighbor, best friend, literary citizen and champion for those who could not speak for themselves. Foremost she was a fighter, to the very end.
