Filippo BertoProfessor Filippo Berto is Chair Professor of Mechanics of Materials at Sapienza Università di Roma, a position he has held since 2022, following a long academic career at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Since 2002, his resarch has focused on fracture mechanics, fatigue design, and structural integrity of materials and components.

He has received several prestigious international recognitions, including the Wöhler Medal awarded in 2021 by the European Society of Structural Integrity for his outstanding contributions to fatigue research. Since 2021, he has served as President of the Italian Group of Fracture, one of the most active international scientific communities in the field of structural integrity.

Professor Berto is Editor-in-Chief or Senior Editor of leading international journals in mechanics and materials engineering and has authored several hundred scientific publications.
