Educated at the University of Bonn, he developed strong views on state power, which he often expressed through sharp political commentary and satirical writing. His most enduring literary contribution, Pictures of the Socialistic Future, critiqued socialist ideology and warned against the potential dangers of state-imposed equality. He used both his legislative influence and his writing to argue for limited government and personal freedom.
