Eric LinklaterEric Linklater was a Scottish novelist, essayist, journalist, and playwright known for his wit, eccentric characters, and sharply observed comedy. Born in 1899, he studied medicine and English literature at the University of Aberdeen before pursuing a varied career that included journalism, military service, academic work, and writing.Linklater produced novels, short stories, travel writing, history, and books for children over a career spanning more than five decades. His fiction frequently combines social observation with exuberant humor and a taste for the absurd.
