He graduated from Williams College and later attended Auburn Theological Seminary, where he prepared fo a career in ministry. Roe married and had three children Sarah Theresa, Merwin, and Pauline Sands. He passed away on July 19, 1888, at the age of 50 in Cornwall, New York.
