Edward Banchs

Edward Banchs is a freelance writer, independent researcher and author whose work has primarily focused on the relationship between heavy metal and the sub-Saharan African continent. His writing has been featured in various publications including i>The Guardian, Metal Hammer, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, i-D, Huck, Afropop, Decibel and the journal Metal Music Studies. He is the author of two books: Heavy Metal Africa: Life, Passion and Heavy Metal in the Forgotten Continent (Word Association, 2016) and Scream for Me Africa! Heavy Metal Identities in Post-Colonial Africa (Intellect, 2021). He lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
