After receiving his medical degree from the University of Toronto, he trained at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, Australia, obtaining his master's degree in Sport Medicine. Dr. Stoddard's sports medicine work has included travel with Canada's national ball hockey team, providing on site medical coverage for the Subaru Triathlon Series, and functioning as medical director of Eastern Ironman Canada, as well as working with the National Ballet of Canada. His injection training, including ultrasound, PRP, and prolotherapy, was primarily done in the US.
