Debbie Danowski

Debbie Danowski is Associate Professor of Communication and Media Studies at Sacred Heart University, USA, where she teaches classes in Health Communication and Advertising, including Food Advertising, Studies in Self-Help Books, Magazines Body Image, and Women & Advertising. Her research focuses on representations of health, eating, and addiction in food advertising.

She is also the author of "Happy Eating" and Food Addiction in American Advertising (Lexington Books, 2023) and five popular press books, including the best-selling Why Can’t I Stop Eating? and The Emotional Eater’s Book of Inspiration. Elsewhere, her work has been published widely, including in the Popular Culture Studies Journal, the Iowa Journal of Communication, and the Journal of American College Health.
