David E. Garland is professor of Christian Scriptures at George W. Truett Theological Seminary, Baylor University. His books include The Intention of Matthew 23, Reading Matthew: A Literary and Theological Commentary on the First Gospl, "Gospel of Mark" in the Zondervan Illustrated Bible Backgrounds Commentary, and commentaries on Mark, Colossians and Philemon, 2 Corinthians, 1 Corinthians, and Luke.
