Dan StonesHi there, I'm Dan Stones, creator and author of Laugh-a-Bull. Writing a book had been a dream of mine for many years. As a general manager, business consultant, coach and trainer for well over a decade, writing children's books was the last thing on y mind but in 2020, during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, all that changed. At the very start of lockdowns in my home state of Victoria, I was stood down from work without pay and asked to stay home to do my bit for the company cause. One day, while I was contemplating the future of our family, (and how fast the grass was growing in the paddock across the road), I remembered a fun game I used to play with the kids in the car...it was of course, telling Bull jokes. Fast forward almost 12 months, and those memories had materialised into the crowd- funded, 52 page, fully illustrated children's book, called Laugh-a-bull. I sincerely hope this book helps people feel happier - it certainly helped our family get through those dark days. But more than this, I hope it allows you to continue sharing and creating Laugh-a-bull jokes with your loved ones long after the book has taken its place on the shelf. As a father of two older children, those moments of silliness and laughter are still some most cherished memories that I carry with me today. In addition to trying to spread some light and laughter in the world, I also unexpectedly found myself creating a book that parents and educators could use to extend vocabulary and instill the joy of reading in younger readers. The characters, Hank Bull, Ted Bear and Punnie Rabbit have been wonderfully brought to life by illustrator, Cassie Fleming and have added so much more to the project, providing the ideal visual support to help children understand the jokes and develop their own unique sense of humour. Thanks again for stopping by to learn a little more about my story (and stories). Dan Stones ---- Dan lives just outside of Melbourne, Australia, with his wife Carly and children Emily & Harry.
