She is a lifelong writer and draws inspiration from the stories of strong women who have endured hardships and lived to ay Something about it-and some who haven't. Her fastidious historical research gives her writing a sense of time and place. D. J. holds an MS degree in education and undergraduate degrees in elementary education, psychology, and accounting. Hailing from upstate New York, D. J. has deep roots on Chestnut Ridge dating back to the early 1800s, which was her inspiration for the primary setting in Schooled in Silence.
