Cole YoungerThomas Coleman Younger (1844-1916) fought as a Confederate guerrilla during the Civil War and later became a leader of the James-Younger Gang of outlaws. He was born on the Younger Family Farm in Jackson County, Missouri. Despite being a family of Unon supporters, Younger’s father was shot dead by a Union soldier during their brutal guerrilla warfare campaign through Missouri.
