Christopher John Wilkins

In my youth I was Irish-Catholic. My neighborhood, in Long Island, NY, was home to two species, Irish Catholics and Italian Catholics. No others survived, though I did meet a Lutheran, once. Now, I identify as English nobility and Protestant. I left the Island, the family, and the Church in the early 1970s. I dropped out of college-or more accurately-was put out, after spending exam week in jail for streaking on the New Jersey Turnpike. Some folks have no sense of humor! I also had the opportunity to inspect the New Orleans detention center during the Mardi Gras. Months later, the fellow who had turned me onto drugs, introduced me to Christ.

I spent several years in Hawaii in the early 1970s, living on a Christian commune before pursuing master's degrees in English and Missiology. In the late 1980s, I moved to Asia where I served with the Free Methodist Mission in Cambodia and Japan. My wife, Yuko, and I married in 2002.

Amid these endeavors, I found time for gallivanting across Asia, Europe, and North America by tuk-tuk, ultra-light aircraft, motorcycle, parachute, elephant, camel, bamboo raft, and the Trans-Siberian rail. In 2024, I self-published The Curmudgeon's Guide: Hope for Heathens, Laodiceans, and Other Losers. I presently live in Japan with Yuko. Our sons, Caleb and Corey, attend university in the USA.
