Chandra ManningChandra Manning earned her B.A. from Mount Holyoke College, M.Phil from University College Galway, and Ph.D. from Harvard University. She teaches U.S. history at Georgetown University in Washington, DC and is the author of "What This Cruel War Was Ovr: Soldiers, Slavery, and the Civil War" (2007) and "Troubled Refuge: Struggling for Freedom in the Civil War" (2016). She has also worked as a National Park Service Ranger and was a volunteer at the Irish Immigration Center in the 1990s and early 2000s.
