Carson Brewer
Carson Brewer (1920-2003), a native Tennessean, was an American journalist and conservationist best known for doc-umenting the natural and cultural history of the Southern Appalachian region. During his 40-year career as a reporter and colunist for the Knoxville News Sentinel, Brewer was a key voice for the promotion and protection of the area's natural wonders, especially Great Smoky Mountains National Park. His book A Wonderment of Mountains: The Great Smokies is a collection of some of his most poetic columns about the park and the people who cared for it.
