Cadwallader Colden
Cadwallader Colden (1688-1776) was a Scottish-born physician, natural scientist, and politician who served as the Lieutenant Governor of New York. Colden's interest in the indigenous peoples of North America led him to study and document their cusoms, languages, and political systems. His works, including "The History of the Five Indian Nations of Canada," are considered significant contributions to early American ethnography and history.
